The Global Open University is an Indian university established in 2006 in Dimapur, Nagaland. It has been established under the provisions of The Global Open University Act 2006 (Act 3 of 2006) of the Government of Nagaland with a view to introducing vocational, job oriented and employment centric education in the North-East in general and in the State of Nagaland in particular. .
The University has operated since April 2007 from Dimapur, in a campus allotted by the Government of Nagaland. The university's campus was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Hon'ble Shri Neiphiu Rioon 5 June 2007. Two other campuses have subsequently been launched at Wokha and Kohima, with interim headquarters remaining at Dimapur. His Excellency, Governor of Nagaland, is Chancellor of the University. The Global Open University (TGOU), Nagaland is administered by a Governing Council. The Pro-Chancellor is Priya Ranjan Trivedi.

The Global Open University (TGOU) is recognized by the Distance Education Council, New Delhi, and teaches to a UGC-approved syllabus, for all courses as per UGC-approved nomenclatures. It offers students independent study, with flexibility in terms of place, pace and duration of study. The university provides an international student support services network, and provides scholarships for needy and intelligent students.
